I was walking and you were there.

I was walking and you were there
I stood on my tracks staring
Emotions ran afoul for all to see
I was Pretend while you were there
"You were never there" I said.

I was walking and you were there
Alas, it was not to be
You saw me and greeted me
Left me with nothing but to answer
"Hi" while emotions boiled inside.

I was walking and you were there
Mouthing those three words
Changed my world so fast
Melting the heart
That has gone cold for long.

I was walking and you were there
We were there, standing
Together as one for all around to stare
Let them stare while we enjoy
The warm embrace of two into one.

I was walking and you were there
Indeed a dream come true
Mouthing the words
"I'm sorry" made me more than I am
Held long in the prison of the heart.

I was walking and you were there
Lo! A dream it only was
Those three words lost
As real as that could be
It was only in the mind.
